Journey to Recovery Image

My Eighth Finding…

With every step so far, I have learned more about me, my body, and my health.

Each step has provided me great information and helped with different decisions, however, I have not seen the weight results yet.

Thinking back on things over the last 5 decades, I used to look healthy – the 115 lbs, toned and fit but I am sure if someone could have looked underneath of the physical, knowing what I know now, I probably wasn’t very healthy.

Now I am overweight, but I am probably healthier on the inside than I have ever been before.

So that is something to get excited about.

The next step in my journey – I started craving salted sunflower seeds like crazy and was colder than usual. I have always been a cold person but now I was freezing – to the point where I was having 2 baths a day just to try to get and stay warm.

So I googled – Why am I so cold…

The below link changed my life – again:

#2 resonated with me immediately…

MedlinePlus notes that signs of hypothyroidism include:

Then I started looking into hypothyroidism and found out more symptoms from the link below:

I was experiencing a majority of these…

What are the symptoms of hypothyroidism?

The symptoms of hypothyroidism usually develop slowly over time – sometimes years. They can include:

  • Feeling tired (fatigue).
  • Experiencing numbness and tingling in your hands.
  • Having constipation.
  • Gaining weight.
  • Experiencing soreness throughout your body (can include muscle weakness).
  • Having higher than normal blood cholesterol levels.
  • Feeling depressed.
  • Being unable to tolerate cold temperatures.
  • Having dry, coarse skin and hair.
  • Experiencing a decrease sexual interest.
  • Having frequent and heavy menstrual periods.
  • Seeing physical changes in your face (including drooping eyelids, as well as puffiness in the eyes and face).
  • Having your voice become lower and hoarser.
  • Feeling more forgetful (“brain fog”).

So then I started looking at what I could do, if anything to make me better. The solution was simple.

https://www.everydayhealth.com/hs/healthy-living-with-hypothyroidism/vitamins/

I had been taking some of these vitamins / minerals over the last few years but never consistently enough or together.

I recognized that I needed to take them consistently and properly. I googled the right time of day to take these that were most beneficial, checked to see what I needed to purchase and then started taking them.

It has been 3 days now, and honestly I already feel like a different person.

The iodine is what has picked me up the most so far.

I don’t crave the sunflower seeds anymore. I am still cold but not freezing like I was and we will wait and see about the weight loss and other symptoms as we go along on this new journey.

This also aligns with my sixth journey regarding liver, kidneys, hormones and metabolism.

Now I understand why trying to just fix the liver and kidneys hasn’t worked yet.

I am looking forward to see where this journey takes me!
